Download MP3As we’ve seen, the theological core of the conflict between the secessionists and the rest of John’s community was the truth about the identity of Jesus. As he begins to wrap up the letter, John emphasizes not only what we know, but whom. We must know the truth about Jesus, but we must also know that Jesus is himself the Truth: “the true God and eternal life” (1 John 5:20).
